Blog 1.8 Rubik's Cube     Welcome back to my blog!  I can't believe it is already week 8! I think this week I made a lot of progress as I continued to practice the solve. I definitely feel more comfortable with the algorithms and the cube itself. I rewatched the YouTube video this week to teach myself ergonomics, which is how to hold the cube. Apparently, there is a proper way to position your hands around the cube to make the solve easier. I find this strategy to be more difficult and uncomfortable. After practicing with the cube in my own way, trying to reposition my hands made solving the cube more confusing. If I wanted to use the proper hand placement, I should have started with learning it! However, that doesn't matter to me because I have a better understanding on how to actually solve the cube!     In my  previous blogs I touched on the topic of how my original goal, to solve the cube, may need to be slightly tweaked before my Ted Talk present...

Blog 1.7 Rubik's Cube      Welcome back to week seven of my blog! I love looking through everyone's blogs to see all the progress that has been made in our class! As I work on my project, I find myself gaining new knowledge and skills when solving the cube. I've never realized how difficult and complex this game is until I tried it out myself. It gets very frustrating at times when you do all these steps, and it doesn't come out right. I have had to learn to be patient with myself and realize that things take time.       This week I have continued to practice and relearn the algorithms. I strongly believe that each week I have made progress! As I have talked about in my past blogs, I'm not sure I will have the cube fully solved by the time our Ted Talks are given. My original goal was to have mastered the puzzle by this time, but I will have to rearrange my goal. I have been caught up in trying to familiarize myself with each step and the algorit...

Blog 1.6 Rubik's Cube     Welcome back! Nothing new and  exciting has happened this week. I have been mostly practicing the first algorithm, FURURF. I definitely feel like I am making progress on solving this pattern and have a better understanding on how it works. From my research on the cube, I have came to the conclusion that having knowledge on how these algorithms work is helpful when solving the puzzle. When you understand the turns and moves you take to solve a face, you become more familiar with the process.      I'm sorry that this week's blog is a bit boring and I have nothing  interesting to share with you guys! Hopefully within these next couple weeks I will have a picture of the cube fully solved, still with the help of the YouTube video! This next week, I plan to practice more on memorizing the first algorithm and the next steps as well. Can't wait to see everyone's final Genius Hour project!
