Blog 1.5 Rubik's Cube
Welcome back everyone! This week I reached my goal and I'm one step closer to solving the Rubik's Cube! With a couple hours of practice, I have finally learned how to perform the algorithms. In order to use the algorithms, you must understand what each letter represents. For example, I use FURURF to remember the faces that must be moved to reach their proper placement. I know this might sound confusing, so I will provide a picture of my notes below!
I believe this week has been successful for the most part. I have been practicing outside of class, but I still have yet to remember the algorithm without my notes. This is one of the most challenging steps, because there are several different patterns I must learn and memorize. In order to conquer this problem, I plan to rewatch the YouTube video next week. I feel this will be beneficial, because it gives me the chance to observe someone else's movements when solving the puzzle. I will then be able to relearn and correct my mistakes!
I can't believe it is already week 5 of our project! Another thought I have had this week is I may have to readjust my end goals of the project. I have not picked up on the algorithms as fast as I planned. I worry I will not have enough practice to fully remember each step before the final week. This is something I must consider in order to be successful! I want nothing more than to be able to meet my original goal and solve the cube in front of our class during my Ted Talk! I have learned so much in these past five weeks about this strategic game and I am proud of myself for that. I would have never guessed the Rubik's Cube to be such a complex and time-consuming game! However, I will not give up on my original goal just quite yet. In these next couple weeks, I will continue to practice and learn new skills in order to reach my own success!
I find it so cool you chose the Rubik's Cube as your project! It does seem very complex and takes other people so long to complete it. I love to look over in class and see you working on it, that shows dedication! If you don't master it like you hope, will you continue to practice until you do? I look forward to seeing your progress and listening to your Ted Talk!!
