Blog 1.5 Rubik's Cube     Welcome back everyone! This week I reached my goal and I'm one step closer to solving the  Rubik's Cube! With a couple hours of practice, I have finally learned how to perform the algorithms. In order to use the algorithms, you must understand what each letter represents. For example, I use FURURF to remember the faces that must be moved to reach their proper placement. I know this might sound confusing, so I will provide a picture of my notes below!     I believe this week has been  successful for the most part. I have been practicing outside of class, but I still have yet to remember the algorithm without my notes. This is one of the most challenging steps, because there are several different patterns I must learn and memorize. In order to conquer this problem, I plan to rewatch the YouTube video next week. I feel this will be beneficial, because it gives me the chance to observe someone else's movements when solving the pu...

Blog 1.4 Rubik's Cube     Hey guys! This week I have spent a majority of my time trying to  critique the steps I have learned to solve the cube! As you know from my previous blogs, the first step in to create a daisy looking image on the upper face of the cube. Seems simple right? Actually, this step requires a lot of practice to properly form this figure. Along with all the practice I have done outside of class, I have learned how to preform the next step: fully solving the top, yellow face. This was very exciting for me, because the puzzle appears to be almost fully solved! Although I have completed this step, I will still need to practice resolving it throughout the week, because the algorithm is very long and complex.

Blog 1.3 Rubik's Cube     Welcome back fellow bloggers! This week I learned how to solve many  different parts and sides to the cube. I am not be able to solve it as quickly as Tierney showed us in class, but I am pushing myself to learn the appropriate moves, patterns, and algorithms needed to solve the cube. Last week I struggled with completing the white side and the bottom layer of the puzzle, but with practice and time, I was finally able to solve these two steps! See below.      I also was able to fully solve the second/middle layer of the cube. (See below) Learning this process and the  necessary steps require a lot of memorization. As of now, I am working on learning the appropriate moves and patterns used to solve the Rubik's Cube. I have learned there are many different situations you may encounter when trying to put the cube together, and these require learning different strategies to fix the problem.
